Overview
DBL Interactive (DBLi) is a decision support toolkit that allows you to develop and share Bayesian network models over the internet.
DBL Interactive provides all the model building and scenario analysis capabilities of desktop Bayesian Network software over an easy to use web interface.
The only skills you need to use DBL Interactive are those required to use a web browser and a basic understanding of Bayesian Network models - which you can obtain by proceeding through our online tutorials.
Bayesian Networks - Online Development
With DBL Interactive, a web browser is all that is required to build or use Bayesian Networks. You can create models, upload models that you have created in desktop software, edit models (add modify or delete nodes, states, links and probabilities) and use models for scenario analysis. There is no need for desktop software.
Collaborative Development, Sharing and Distribution of Bayesian Networks
DBL Interactive makes the collaborative development of Bayesian Networks very easy. Because DBLi is a web based tool, model builders and users can participate in the development and use of Bayesian Networks from anywhere with an internet connection. A web browser and Adobe Flash player is all that is required.
As a model builder, DBLi's user management system allows you to control exactly who is able to perform what activities on your networks. You can build models with colleagues online, share them and publish them to user groups.
Documentation of Bayesian Networks
DBL Interactive makes documenting the components of your networks very easy.
You can attach short and long descriptions to each component of your networks (such as nodes, states, and field data sets). DBLi also allows you to create information pages for networks and nodes within networks. These information pages can contain images, text and hyperlinks and are created using a easy to use interface (no need to write HTML).
You are also able to attach ancilliary information such as PDF documents, images or reports to the networks you develop.
Data Storage and Probability Updating for Bayesian Networks
DBL Interactive has built in tools that make it easier for you to update the probabilities in your networks using field data sets (case data) or expert knowledge.
DBLi contains a field data set tool which allows you to store multiple data sets related to your networks. These can be used to update the probabilities in networks at the click of a button.
In addition, DBL Interactive contains a Conditional Probability Table (CPT) Calculator that you can use to fill in probability tables using expert opionion. The CPT Calculator reduces the number of probabilities that you need to elicit from experts in order to complete probability tables and checks for logical consistency in the elicited probabilities.
Mapping and GIS
DBL Interactive has built-in tools that make it easy for you to link your Bayesian networks to GIS data so that you can produce mapped output. These output maps can be overlayed on to Google Maps and the mapped outputs can be saved as runs.
